Top 5 Best Products That Reversed My Hair Loss
Share
My hair loss journey began slowly about 15 years ago. I’m of Arab descent, and Arabs are often known for having thick, beautiful hair, so when my hair started falling out in clumps, it was deeply upsetting. Over time, I became very discouraged and depressed.
I tried countless products and remedies, but nothing truly worked for me. I also struggled to stay motivated and consistent. Eventually, I reached a point where every single time I ran my fingers through my hair, strands would fall out — every time, no matter how many times I touched it.
At first, I thought the problem was how I wore my hair in a bun underneath my hijab, and while that was a contributing factor, I later learned that hair loss is much more complex than a single cause.
After years of research and working in clinical trial environments, I came to an important realisation: one product alone is not enough to support hair regrowth. Scalp and hair health require a holistic approach. From diet and nutrient intake, to proper hair oiling and a targeted shampoo routine, everything plays a role.
By focusing on overall scalp health and staying consistent, I was finally able to reverse my hair loss. Today, my scalp and hair health are better than they have ever been.
The products I share are the ones I personally used on my journey. Everything I recommend has scientific support behind it. Along with consistency, one of the most important things to understand is the initial “dread shed” that can happen when starting a new hair routine or treatment.
When I first began hair oiling and using ketoconazole shampoo, my hair shed for almost two months. This can be completely normal. Weaker hairs may shed first, making room for stronger, healthier hair to grow from stimulated follicles.
If you’re on a similar journey, don’t give up. Stay consistent, be patient, and try to maintain a positive mindset — real results take time.
These are the five products I used that made the most difference for my hair. My routine includes a weekly shampoo schedule that alternates between different shampoos, hair oiling two to three times a week, and a post-shower hair serum to protect the hair shaft while maintaining length and hydration.

1. Nizoral Ketoconazole shampoo 2 times a week. Ketoconazole has been proven to block DHT which is the main hormone that causes hair loss in the scalp, so it will stop your hair from falling. Ketoconazole is extremely drying, so just use it on the scalp not the rest of your hair. If necessary, use a hydrating shampoo on the rest of the hair.

2. Alpecin Caffeine shampoo 2 times a week. Caffeine stimulates blood flow to the scalp, promoting new hair growth. Like Nizoral, caffeine shampoo is also extremely drying so use it in the same way and alternate with a hydrating shampoo.

3. OGX coconut miracle oil shampoo. Coconut oil hydrates and moisturises the scalp and hair strands. Since ketoconazole and caffeine shampoo are both very drying, it's good to break up their use with this shampoo. So alternate between ketoconazole on day 1, then OGX coconut shampoo the day after, and follow with caffeine shampoo on day three. Repeat this throughout the week.

4. Ivyra Hair Regrowth Oil- Scalp oiling 2 to 3 times a week. Ivyra hair regrowth oil contains scientifically backed ingredients that block DHT. It also includes peppermint and rosemary oil that have been found to be just as effective as minoxidil in hair growth. One study found peppermint oil to be almost twice as effective as minoxidil. It is all natural and encased in glass, not plastic, so micro-plastics won't be transferred into the oil and onto your scalp causing inflammation, which is also a major contributing factor to hair loss.

5. Ivyra Miracle Elixir Vanille Noire. Apply this to damp or dry hair daily, directly after a shower. This serum has argan oil, vitamin E and shea butter. It will hydrate and protect hair strands, helping maintain length retention. This is not a scalp oil, so don't apply to scalp, only hair strands.
